The Galle to Ella road trip covers about 170 kilometres via the Southern Expressway before climbing into tea country. It takes around six to seven hours with stops, longer than a straight transfer, because most travellers want time at a waterfall, at the Ravana Waterfall viewpoint, and at the Nine Arch Bridge along the way.
