Galle and Coastal Wonders: Private Day Tour from Colombo

Your coastal adventure begins when your private driver picks you up from your Colombo hotel. We’ll travel south along the scenic coast to our first destination, the Madu River. Here, you’ll enjoy a relaxing boat safari, gliding through serene mangrove tunnels and learning about the local island life.

Next, we’ll visit a sea turtle hatchery, where you can learn about conservation efforts and see several species of turtles, from tiny hatchlings to large adults. We’ll also make a stop at the fascinating Ambalangoda Mask Museum to see the intricate and colourful traditional masks of Sri Lanka.

The main destination is the historic city of Galle. We will explore the magnificent Galle Fort, a 16th-century fortress that feels like a city within a city. You’ll have free time to walk the ramparts, browse the unique shops, and visit landmarks like the Galle Lighthouse and the Maritime Archaeology Museum (Samudra Museum). We’ll also visit a local gem museum to learn about Sri Lanka’s famous precious stones. To cap off the day, we’ll drive to the serene Japanese Peace Pagoda for a breathtaking sunset view over the Indian Ocean before beginning our comfortable journey back to Colombo.
